Epsy Sans is a font family that brings Apple Computerﾕs ﾒEspy Sansﾓ bitmap font to the printed page. To use them, just drop them on your Fonts folder, or drop them on your System (MacOS) folder and let the Finder put them where they belong.
About the Epsy Sans font family
Epsy Sans is based on Apple Computerﾕs ﾒEspy Sansﾓ bitmap font (note that the transposition of the ﾒsﾓ & ﾒpﾓ in my font is intentional). Espy Sans is a new font designed by Appleﾕs Human Interface people for easy readability on computer screens. Iﾕve heard that this bitmap font is also used by the Newton and comes with the Newton Toolkit as well as the Newton Toolkit Demo (part of ﾒProgramming for the Newtonﾓ by McKeehan and Rhodes).
Now you can use Espy Sans on your printer as well. I was fascinated by the towering x-height and easy readability of this font when I first started using eWorld. Then the font showed up again in Greg Landweber & Ed Voasﾕ ﾒAaronﾓ system extension to update the look of your Mac. I had been designing fonts for awhile and so I decided to take on the challenge of making a printer font out of a bitmap. This was a great experience for me, as I developed many new methods while creating Epsy Sans.
Driven by a need to use Epsy Sans as a general, all-purpose font, I created Italic, Bold Italic and Small Caps & Old Style Figures. This required a paradigm shift for me, as I had previously had the intention of only duplicating Espy Sans on printed output. Now my goal was to take the design further, using Espy Sans as a guide, rather than an absolute recipe.

Shareware registration info
Epsy Sans is shareware; it is NOT free. If you use these fonts, you should pay a $10 registration fee. Paying this fee entitles you to the full versions of the entire Epsy Sans family (Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Small Caps & Old Style Figures) with all the international characters.
Paying for Epsy Sans is fairly simple. Open the Register program that accompanies Epsy Sans. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase. Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi Shareware. Kagi Shareware handles my payment processing.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi Shareware. Their email address is shareware@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, itﾕs already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement.
